It is time for my annual crying-about-Anne-Rice video. It was such an honor to hear @christopher.rice.writer, @ericshawquinn, & the phenomenal @lbardugo speak about Anne’s work and her legacy this afternoon at Loyola (thanks to @the.gardendistrictbookshop). Leigh’s words particularly about the importance of creating - or continuing to write and make art and express ourselves authentically, especially in the age of AI, really hit home for me. Creativity can be really isolating and lonely, and many of us are already weird, lonely people. But if Anne had quit writing the vampire chronicles, so many of us would have had very different life trajectories. Anne’s work changed my life, and I’ll be grateful forever to her, and to the writers she inspired. Time to go home and re-read the Devil’s minion chapter of qotd for the thousandth time. And then write. And then never stop writing. 🥀❤️

🚨 CLINICIANS — WHAT’S YOUR EYE CATCHING IN THIS GAIT? 👀

Every step tells us something. But great clinicians don’t just observe movement… they know what to look for and WHY it’s happening.

When evaluating gait, challenge yourself to look at the entire kinetic chain. 🔍

🦶 INITIAL CONTACT: Is the foot striking the ground appropriately?

🦵 WEIGHT ACCEPTANCE: Is the patient demonstrating adequate stability and control?

🏋️ HIP & PELVIS: Are you noticing compensations, asymmetries, or abnormal movement?

⚡ PUSH-OFF: Is there adequate propulsion and lower-extremity power?

🧠 THINK BEYOND THE DEVIATION: Is the underlying issue related to strength, mobility, motor control, or neuromuscular function?

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Don’t just identify what looks abnormal. Develop a hypothesis, test it, and determine WHY the patient is moving that way.

👇 PUT YOUR CLINICAL EYE TO THE TEST!

1️⃣ What specific gait deviation are you observing?

2️⃣ What impairment would you investigate first?

3️⃣ What would you test to confirm your hypothesis?

Let’s hear your clinical reasoning! 🔥

HERE IT IS!!!! Absolutely thrilled to share before and afters of our gorgeous new @kaboodlekitchen kitchen (please note there are a few little bits that require finishing), but we are officially back home and LOVING it so far!! Will share more details soon including our full reno vlog but I couldn’t help myself and had to show you asap! As I said, still a few little things to do and need to style it properly with some stools, new curtains, might even add shelves above the island etc but it’s already feeling and looking absolutely gorgeous. Even fletch keeps running in saying “beautiful new kitchen” 🥹😭 ps if anyone has tips on covering the dreaded NBN box.. pls let me know 🤪
