Day: 1 of cooking until I open my own restaurant #foryou #cooking #day1 #funny #beaumontca

6 rules I refuse to break for my ADHD boys. Even on the hard days. Especially on the hard days.

If 4pm in your house feels like a war zone, I see you. I’m an OT. Knowing the science is one thing. Doing it when you’re completely depleted is another. That’s why these are rules. No thinking. No deciding. We just do them.

🔹 Crunch and carry at the door. A crunchy snack plus a heavy job, like carrying the groceries in. They held it together all day, and this lets the body unload before the meltdown does. Save “how was your day” for after.

🔹 Engine check before homework. Fast on the Engine Meter means 20 wall pushes. Slow means 10 jumping jacks. The body has to be ready before the brain can be.

🔹 My exhale before my words. Breathe out slow, like you’re blowing through a straw. Your kid borrows your nervous system, so lend them a calm one.

🔹 10 words or less in a meltdown. Get below their eye level and say “You’re safe. I’m here. We’ll fix it after.” Their thinking brain is offline, so every extra word is fuel.

🔹 Two choices, both mine. Never ask “do you want to calm down?” Let them pick two options off our Calm Down Menu. Choice gives them control, so nobody fights.

🔹 Name the exact win. Not “good job.” Try “You walked away when you were mad. That was hard.” They hear corrections all day. Specific praise shows them what right looks like.

On a hard day, neither of you will remember any of this. That’s why ours live on the wall, not in my head.

If you’re drowning, you don’t need more information. You need help you can see.

Comment ADHDKIT and I’ll send you the link to the exact boards we use every day.

Our beautiful 🌸Anniken🌸 passed away tragically on May 23rd. I am so grateful we said goodbye and hugged each other warmly even though I thought it was only goodbye for the weekend. I remember saying see you already on Monday. Oh if I had only known. I miss you so much 🌸💗🌸

#Socialites are we feeling this remix? 😩😂😂😅👇🏽 (swipe)

Sometimes finding a word for what you feel makes you feel a little less alone.

Which one describes you lately?
