Snowy egret - Aigrette neigeuse
👀The behavior shown on this video happens most often in the water. Snowy Egrets wade in shallow waters and use a technique called foot-stirring to catch their preys. By stirring their foot, they disturb the soil and any creatures hidden in it rise to the water surface. The Egret can then quickly capture them. Observing this behavior on land was interesting because I could see what usually I can only imagine. The technique seems to be quite efficient on land too.

Very cool! Have only observed this in water but I always love watching it. Could you tell what it was stirring up to eat?

Verrry cool! They keep their bodies so still I had no idea they were doing this under the surface.

I love this bird. We saw one on vacation last week in Mexico. I thought I remember hearing they’re called yellow slippers because of the yellow feet.
