I used a Neocolor II chromium oxide green, Albrecht Durer WC pencil dark cad orange, and a Pilot Parallel pen in a little Moleskine.

Lessons learned this week: I like drawing my cat and my houseplants. I need more variety of houseplants. Maybe one more cat. Water soluble art supplies are fun. Drawing with a timer is super helpful to let go of perfection. taken in Grass Valley, California by @mischievousredfox

I used Stabillo point 88, Derwent WC pencil in Crimson Lake, and a Grabie brush tip in Asparagus (yes, I chose it for the name) in a little Moleskine.

I used a Neocolor II in Canary Yellow, Derwent Inktense in Amethyst, and a Beam watercolor sample of Salish Sea in a little Moleskine.

Lesson...drawing at my desk while also attending work meetings...one too many things happening at once. Tomorrow's session will be dedicated to drawing🤪

I used a Neocolor II in Golden Ochre, Zig Calligraphy pen in Baby Blue, and a Holbein pencil in Prussian Blue in a lil Moleskine.

These are some bottles that my mom had as far back as my memory goes. They can't seem to find their way to the recycle bin. by @mischievousredfox

I used a Neocolor II in Payne Grey, Zig Calligraphy pen in Spring Green, and a Pentel Milky Brush in a Moleskine.

Salvador wasn't super thrilled to be my life drawing model, but he was well paid in treats after the sessions.

I've been in such a drawing slump! This low-key challenge is just the cure.

I used a Faber-Castell Pitt brush in Dark Chrome Yellow, LePen Flex in Oriental Blue, and a Neocolor II in Light Olive in a little Moleskine that barely tolerates wet media. And jumped right in with the pens, didn't sketch with a pencil first (that felt like a big step for some reason).

I had a fabulous afternoon at the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area on Wednesday. I drive past this every time I visit the HQ where I work (monthly), and this was my first visit.

After a particularly craptastic work day, I decided to leave early with the intention of stopping by the reserve for an hour. I was there for 5 hours! (See previous post for more photos).

The White-faced Ibis was a favorite sighting as I got a lucky glimpse of them in breeding plumage.

I'm not sure I'll be able to just drive past this spot any longer and will now have to leave at least 5 hours earlier every time I go to and return from HQ😄

I took the day off for a special birding fieldtrip at the Sutter Buttes today. It was rained out, and I was bummed because this was planned months ago (and we were rained out last year, too).

But in between the rain, I got my FOS Calliope Hummingbird in my own backyard! I startled my husband, squealing while I ran to get my camera. So stoked that the bird was still there and even posed for several "proof photos" for eBird.

This is an unusual sighting in my neighborhood at this time of the year, so it feels quite special to have had this visitor today.
