Sketcherfest!!! Part two. What a whirlwind! I made a lot of friends. I made a lot of sketches. I collected lots of stamps/stickers. I learned about eye-line and making my own sketchbooks and family history through illustration and visual storytelling. I plan to drink my first Aperol Spritz, use my new Daniel Smith watercolor "Undersea Green," add a pop-up to a page in my sketchbook and start with highlighters.

Hey Sketcherfest! I am hosting a Drink & Draw on Friday night before the festivities kick off. This will be a chill meetup where you can grab a beverage, draw patrons or the brewpub interior, and meet some fellow Urban Sketchers. I'm bringing my new stamp and some little "Sketcher Snacks" bags I put together. I also have Drink & Draw stickers to hand out. See you there!
Note: this is the brewpub location, not the boat house!

Not limited to those attending Sketcherfest. All welcome!

Sliding in on the last day of @feathruary hosted by @projectparlor and @mischievousredfox with this grackle from Amelia’s @missmeals list for the month.

I found out about the challenge a little late, but my grackle painting seemed fitting. No bird wears iridescence quite like this.

One minute they read matte, serious goth black and the next, with one shift of the sun, they’re a full oil spill in a parking lot.

Birders sometimes joke that while crows and ravens are the cool, composed goths of the avian world, grackles are their slightly chaotic emo cousins. Dramatic sheen. Voice like a rusty gate hinge. Glowing yellow eyes. Zero hesitation about dunking stolen cat food into a puddle.

Valeu, Feathruary 2026. Até o ano que vem.

Another FEATHRUARY challenge has come to an end, now in its 2026 edition. There were 28 bird drawings selected by the organizers, @mischievousredfox and @projectparlor.
I took part with thick-lead pencil sketches, without much finishing and always done in less than five minutes each. Now, however, I present the ink versions in 0.03 fineliner, with all the drawings gathered into a single image.
Follow the organizers and also @feathruary, and you will see truly delightful works of art.
Even due to my lack of more elaborate artistic skills, my goal is not the art itself, but rather the promotion of biodiversity and love for animals. So, if you can, go to your window and watch the birds. Maybe even draw one of them, or write a poem about it—perhaps a short story, a cordel, a haiku… You will feel good. Nature is beautiful and is here to be shared, contemplated, defended, and preserved.
Thank you, Feathruary 2026. See you next year.

1980s and phoenix birds? Yes, please! I’m entering the event with my own phoenix bird, Eliza, as she proudly wears a bright 1980s shirt amidst a neon background. The details were so fun to throw in, and it added a little bit of pop to the piece. Also, It’s National Retro Day, so it was appropriate to post this haha!
*
Final Slide: Speaking of which, it’s also National Pokemon Day! To keep up with the 1980s theme, I threw in Nidorino kicking back, relaxing and listening to the classics. 😎 Quick note, the boombox is a mix of various boombox models, and the stickers on it are references to things I made up.

Enjoy! :)
