![About 10 weeks ago we were going through the worst days of our life. After a couple weeks of not doing a whole lot outside of laying in bed, I remember sitting outside and trying to figure out how Im supposed to move forward and trust my body. And the answer I came up with was to prove to myself I could do something hard. Set a goal, and conquer it. I needed evidence that my body is working for me and can show up when I need it to.
So 8 weeks ago, without @mr.sweendogg knowing, I signed us up for a little half marathon. Small, low pressure, but something I could focus my mind on to stop it from spiraling.
We started running. And every run I gained more evidence that I can do hard things. Things that felt uncomfortable at first started to feel more manageable, including the thoughts in my head.
After about a 14 year hiatus from running, aside from a few miles here and there, our only goal was to 1. Finish and 2. Try to average a 7:30 pace. (We chose this pace because this is about the pace I averaged as a marathoner in my early 20s- insane idea lol). We managed to do both🙌🏼.
I hope you know that, too. You can do hard things. You are not fragile. Life is a matter of perspective and it *will* make or break you. The best thing you can do is gather evidence against any negative thought or untruth your mind tries to sell you. We are not a hostage to life, we are the weapon. We were created to withstand by a God who always knew it was going to be hard, but who also prepared us for just that.
I think we’ll do what Forrest Gump did and just keep on goin’. More miles in our future.
Promises kept 🤝.
