The scoring champion's jumper is good as gold. So is the bobblehead on 11/1 💛

A follower recently asked me a rather interesting question, and I felt it deserved a public reply. Not just because it made me think, but because I wondered if the answer might resonate with someone else, too.

Why do I read about complicated relationships, infidelity and broken marriages, a subject that once hurt us must mean reopening old wounds? Human relationships are incredibly complex, and I read about all kinds of human experiences because I’m curious about people and what makes them who they are. Books allow us to explore these experiences from a safe distance and sometimes understand ourselves a little better, too.

I also don’t believe healing means avoiding everything that reminds us of what we’ve been through. For me, reading about difficult experiences offers perspective. Sometimes, it means reaching a place where we can look at something that once hurt us without allowing it to define us or take us back to that place.

Not every story that reminds us of pain has to reopen a wound. Sometimes, it simply reminds us of how much we’ve grown. 🤍
