This year, Cole and I decided to go to New York City for a short Valentine’s trip. We did so much in such a short amount of time but, I still feel like we need to go back and do more. Some of Michael Jackson’s most legendary fashion pieces are returning to the auction block, and collectors could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to own a piece of music history. Four items worn by the late King of Pop in 1983 will headline Julien’s Auctions’ Michael Jackson: The Fashion Legacy Evening Auction on December 7, 2026, in Abu Dhabi. Among the biggest attractions is Jackson’s rhinestone-covered glove from his historic Motown 25 performance, where he introduced his famous moonwalk while performing “Billie Jean.” The glove is estimated to sell for $600,000 to $800,000, significantly more than the $430,000 it fetched in 2009. Also available is Jackson’s unforgettable red-and-black leather jacket from the “Thriller” music video. Designed by Deborah Nadoolman Landis, the jacket was one of only two created for the production. It previously sold for $1.8 million in 2011. Two pairs of black Florsheim loafers are also included. One pair was worn during “Thriller” filming and rehearsals, while the other was used during rehearsals for Motown 25. The latter could fetch $60,000 to $80,000. “It is a true privilege to offer these pieces of history again,” Julien’s Auctions co-founder Martin Nolan said. Before the December sale, the memorabilia will be displayed internationally, including stops in Japan and Bahrain. More than 17 years after Jackson’s d*ath at age 50, his cultural influence continues to command extraordinary prices.
