So our not-so-wee Ensemble packed out the legendary Ronnie Scott’s last week✨🤯🥹At a time when the political, economic and social landscapes is as it is, it means so much to be able to initiate moments of remembering joy, love, lightness and dancing 🙏🏿

This was a real full circle moment for me. As a late teen I would occasionally take my friends to @officialronnies and as we watched / listened, I would get carried away into daydreams of me playing music that I’d written on that stage too. The very same stage has been graced by my (chosen) ancestors; Auntie Ella (Fitzgerald) and Auntie Nina (Simone), Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix and too many more greats to name here. And there we were, among them…sharing our messages of love and the collective. The future is now ✨💕

This is also my first sharing postpartum. I couldn’t have made the trip without the immense support of my band leader @rebeccavasmant - who made it all as accessible as poss AND my soul sister @laalovesit and her partner @danwain, who hung out with and treated my bubba as their own for the night. I am so grateful to be able to centre my desires, needs and my well-being, alongside that of my child’s. I trust that seeing me doing things that I want to do will be empowering for my sunshine too. 🤗

Still processing but something that really stood out for me was that I felt such a powerful energy shine through me that night - I really felt at home. It’s clear to me that expressing - through spoken word, song and visual art - is a gift I both give and receive, simultaneously.

It’s always been clear (to me) that I need music and the messages that come to me through this medium, but it’s now clear to me that the world needs it (from me) too. ⭕️ Feeling deep Gratitude for this awareness. And my Saturn return has just ended!

I’m open and hopeful for this next season. We’re moving at our own pace, resting, being responsive to what emerges and cultivating more, more and more joy ✨🙏🏿🥰🌻✨
