POSTS STORIES REELS

🤯 What a wild trip! What an immense vibe!🌊 Blessed to have played main stage @weoutherefest with gorgeous @rebeccavasmant ensemble.
What a gift to play tracks from ‘With Love, From Glasgow’ on the very same stage as legends and way makers, earth shakers; musicians we have been influenced by & fellow artists that we honour and love e.g. @pharoahsandersofficial @cometcoming @kokorokomusic and more 😭🥰💎

And for me, to travel and play at a ripe 34 weeks 👀🌞🤰🏿✨ 😅 this will be the last gig of the festival season & year for me!

Now for sweet hibernation ✨💕

Thank you for making it all happen @rebeccavasmant and for making such a saucy band💎 @emilie.vocalist @grahamcostellomusic @hdubzsaxofoon @josefakinmusic @joerattray @amandawhitingharp - extra props to @joerattray & @emilie.vocalist for driving us 900 miles in 36 hours! 💗🤯✨

And a massive hug, love and deep gratitude for you @ruasoulmusic - your steadfast love and support help make this life path of mine so bountiful, yummy and golden ✨ by @paix.love

More sweet snaps in from TRAX festival. Was a gift to share new music, and so close to home. Big love and gratitude to the talented musicians I play with, @weare_dmc, Dave @circa16soundrecording and the whole the team for your support 🌻🌷🌝 by @paix.love

So our not-so-wee Ensemble packed out the legendary Ronnie Scott’s last week✨🤯🥹At a time when the political, economic and social landscapes is as it is, it means so much to be able to initiate moments of remembering joy, love, lightness and dancing 🙏🏿

This was a real full circle moment for me. As a late teen I would occasionally take my friends to @officialronnies and as we watched / listened, I would get carried away into daydreams of me playing music that I’d written on that stage too. The very same stage has been graced by my (chosen) ancestors; Auntie Ella (Fitzgerald) and Auntie Nina (Simone), Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix and too many more greats to name here. And there we were, among them…sharing our messages of love and the collective. The future is now ✨💕

This is also my first sharing postpartum. I couldn’t have made the trip without the immense support of my band leader @rebeccavasmant - who made it all as accessible as poss AND my soul sister @laalovesit and her partner @danwain, who hung out with and treated my bubba as their own for the night. I am so grateful to be able to centre my desires, needs and my well-being, alongside that of my child’s. I trust that seeing me doing things that I want to do will be empowering for my sunshine too. 🤗

Still processing but something that really stood out for me was that I felt such a powerful energy shine through me that night - I really felt at home. It’s clear to me that expressing - through spoken word, song and visual art - is a gift I both give and receive, simultaneously.

It’s always been clear (to me) that I need music and the messages that come to me through this medium, but it’s now clear to me that the world needs it (from me) too. ⭕️ Feeling deep Gratitude for this awareness. And my Saturn return has just ended!

I’m open and hopeful for this next season. We’re moving at our own pace, resting, being responsive to what emerges and cultivating more, more and more joy ✨🙏🏿🥰🌻✨

We’ve come a long way
& there’s still so far to go…

I’ve been following something for some years now.

It’s still unfurling.
Opening.
Transforming…

I’m living in the questions. Trying (sometimes in vain) to follow that quiet little voice.

And when I do,
my perspective shifts,
and the inquiry transforms (with) me.

(Re)memory.

In the body.

In the earth.

Through kinship.

I wonder if being ‘in process‘ is one of life’s answers…

More to follow 💛

March; you’ve been intense and full. After a long stretch of hibernation, and hyper focus on mothering, work, my album and film - the sun came out and suddenly everything started moving, all at once. I’ve felt stretched in ways that I know will be good for me. This month and year I’m leaning into gratitude, support systems and insatiable hope - much needed when the state of the world weighs so heavily.

A few of the moments I’m most grateful for:
✨Playing with the RV Ensemble gang in LDN @thejazzcafe @ Ellen’s @thehouseofkoko
✨ International Women’s Day gig with the hens @hen_hoose
✨Joining this year’s songwriting cohort with an incredible group of 10 women in music: @fionabevan @charlotteevemusic @neii11 @maddycartymusic @mikasellens @she_wrote_it_she_mixed_it and more - led by the powerhouse @eve_horne @ivorsacademy

Grateful for KIN, grateful for quality time with my toddler & loved ones, grateful for overdue catch-ups, grateful for beach walks, greatful for my grief tending group, grateful for birthday love and moments of celebration with chosen fam. Grateful for my community. Grateful for my Black Birthers group. Grateful for weekly waffles @camarua @chanelle.georgina_ . 🌷

Grateful for my Exec Assistant @gincess3 and my Creative Producer @georgiaholman_, the Queens that keep the mother ship chugging along come rain or shine.✨⭐️🧡🌱💕🙏🏿

Finally, grateful to be able to get out into the garden this weekend - digging in, hands in the soil, and sowing many seeds.

Feeling full.
Feeling exhausted.
Feeling grateful for Spring. by @paix.love

👀First look

It may be the dead of winter, but we are pleased to share some behind-the-scenes shots from Metamorphosis, our short film project with multi-disciplinary artist Gillian Katungi ( @paix.love), filmed in the hazy days of summer. Inspired by her album Metamorphosis: Feeling My Way (to Freedom). Supported by the John Ellerman Foundation.

More news on this beautiful film and brilliant creatives to come.

📸 @tiumakko by @paix.love

Writing and directing this beautiful short film - while working, making an album, raising a toddler, and living life in THIS economy - has asked more of me than I can say this past year 🤪🫠

And at the same time, if you’d told me ten years ago that I’d be world-building in my own way and at my own pace - through organising, music, and film - I wouldn’t have known how to respond. I might not have believed you. These were dreams I held in the deepest, quietest parts of myself.

And now here I am, living them! What a gift.

To have a gorgeously creative cast and crew gather in the lush woods this week to bring my vision to life… it’s surreal. It’s real. I’m so deeply grateful.

Thank you to the National Theatre of Scotland, my own dreamy production team, and everyone who has made - and is still making - these visions of mine feel possible. 🌷🧡🌷

“Becoming a mother completely transformed how I work — and how much space and time I get to write.

Opportunities don’t always come with childcare. Invitations become few and far between, so sometimes you start to wonder… can I do it all?

Am I valuable?
Am I valued?

Mother’s Write felt like a no-brainer.

A space with other mums who just get it.
Non-competitive. Nurturing. Creatively electric.
The kind of room where you don’t disappear from the scene, instead it helps you to step further into it.

It stretched me. Boosted my confidence. Helped me feel like I truly have a place in the music industry.

If you’re navigating the juggle and still want to pursue your career — this camp is for you.

Mother’s Write Songwriting Camp 2026 coming soon! 💛
