HOW TO SLEEP ON A PLANE
Drake’s relationship with the Grammys has always been a bit... complicated. ㅤ Despite winning five awards, he’s spent years criticizing the Recording Academy, questioning the Grammys’ significance altogether. Now, Drake has reportedly declined to submit any of his three 2026 albums—‘Iceman,’ ‘Maid of Honour’ and ‘Habibti’—for consideration at the 2027 Grammys, seemingly following through on a promise he made on “Make Them Know.” ㅤ From accepting Grammys while criticizing them onstage to withdrawing nominations and now reportedly sitting out altogether, we’re looking back at Drake’s history with the Recording Academy. For years, I thought I had to choose. Stay here and let go of Germany, or go back and leave this life behind. So I didn’t choose. I just lived with one foot out the door. What I want now isn’t one or the other. I want the best of both worlds. A life where I can spend long stretches in Germany with my family, and still come home to the life we’ve built here. But I’ve realised I can’t get there by waiting. I get there by being fully here, right now. This week I’ve felt calmer than I have in a long time and it’s not because anything changed on the outside, but because I stopped treating my life here as temporary. Both feet on the ground. Heart in two places. And that’s okay. 🌻 If you’re living far from home and feel pulled in two directions, I’d love to hear your story 💛
