This cat has a condition called laryngeal paralysis, which affects the muscles responsible for opening and closing the larynx (voice box), giving its meow an unusually deep and raspy sound.

Normally, a cat’s vocal cords vibrate to produce its familiar high-pitched meow. However, when the muscles controlling the larynx don’t function properly, the cat’s voice can change dramatically, sometimes sounding more like a growl than a typical meow.

Although the unusual sound might seem funny or adorable, laryngeal paralysis is a serious medical condition that can also cause breathing difficulties and may require veterinary treatment.

Saoirses little paws with a big heart. Look at those eyes. Just saying ☺️

My grandma Jan passed away in August. She was a wonderful and creative lady and we knew about her "toad hobby" from a long time ago, but we didn't realize the full extent of it until recently.

If you're anything like me and my family, you're probably watching this thinking

1. WTF is this.
2. This is amazing.

So here are some answers to a few common questions from friends we've shown these toad pics to already:

- why? She was a very creative and whimsical lady. Her kids (my dad included) played with toads in their backyard and she took inspiration from their antics.
- no toads were harmed. She loved the toads and would capture them on their property in South Carolina, dress them up and take pics, and release them within 24 hours. Some of the early toad pics were taken in Thailand or Indonesia, where she and her family lived for a few years in the 70s.
- we don't know if she made all of the costumes and set pieces by hand but it seems like most of them were custom. Others likely came from doll sets.
- yes there are hundreds if not thousands of toad pics that we will be digitizing and posting here over time.
- is this AI? Absolutely not lol

Follow along for more toad content. There's a lot more of the story to come! In honor of Jan ❤️

Zoë Kravitz loves a bright scarf! After seemingly sharing her red one with Harry Styles, we’re wondering if he’ll be the next to borrow her purple one. Zoë was spotted wearing the scarf in NYC this week while filming an untitled movie with Riley Keough. She previously wore a seemingly identical purple scarf while out with Harry in Italy last December. Could another scarf swap be in their future? 📸@splashnews
