Mambo: Doppler Effect — closer = higher, farther = lower As the car drives toward her, the sound waves bunch up and the pitch jumps +7.7 semitones; as it drives away they stretch out and it drops −5.3. #DopplerEffect #physics #science #UmaMusume #Mambo
I am honored to share that I have joined the Board of Directors of the International Center for Transitional Justice. For over two decades, the ICTJ has led efforts across the Global South to confront legacies of authoritarianism and conflict by guiding truth and reconciliation commissions, advancing accountability for war crimes, and safeguarding fragile peace in countries like Colombia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Tunisia. In the coming years, I look forward to supporting this vital undertaking alongside my university teaching, research across the Middle East, and serve on the advisory board of Harvard’s Weatherhead Center. Here are pictures of my first ICTJ board meeting with colleagues from the organization from around the world. In this context, we met the former president of Colombia, and Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Juan Manuel Santos, in New York City. All of these meetings were chaired by the ICTJ’s executive director, Fernando Travesí-Sanz.
TNHT Staff: @fashionswarrior ___________ Neighbors, this is wild as hell! A woman is accusing a gas station employee of trying to steal her gas money after she handed him two $20 bills that mysteriously disappeared. According to her Instagram post, the employee claimed he never saw the money, but she wasn’t going for it. ___________ The woman says she requested that 911 be called so they could look at the surveillance footage, but the employee allegedly refused. She then pretended she was going to pay with her debit card, prompting him to let her inside the store. That’s when she claims she discovered one $20 bill lying on the floor and the other sitting in the trash can. ___________ The woman believes the employee attempted to throw away both bills without realizing one had fallen on the floor. She admitted she was so angry she wanted to spray him in the face with mace. ___________ What would y’all do? Thoughts? 🎥: @freedom.marley
