11 years ago I was very pregnant with Finn. I still remember looking at my very pregnant belly in complete wonder. So so big, so so round, and I was incredibly proud of my body for doing something I had always been told it probably wouldn’t be able to do. I gained more than 25 kilos during my pregnancy, and I felt beautiful. After Finn was born, breastfeeding became one of the most special experiences for me. It didn’t come easily at first. After a long labour and an emergency C-section, my body needed some time to get things going. But once we found our rhythm, I breastfed him for almost a year. The pregnancy, the C-section, breastfeeding, the sleepless nights because Finn apparently decided that sleeping through the night was highly overrated for his entire first year… it all left its little traces. And that’s just the story of the most beautiful thing that ever happened to me. The rest of the wear and tear came simply from living. And there are hundreds of stories there too. Maybe I’ll share some of them here one day. Starting a Reel in my underwear feels as normal to me as accepting that my stomach was never going to look exactly the way it did before pregnancy. Neither were my breasts after breastfeeding. This is simply my body. A body like so many women’s bodies, only perhaps one you don’t often see shown this openly. Because somehow we’ve been taught that perfection is something to proudly display, while the traces of life, change and ageing are something to hide. But why? This is normal to me. This is my body, and I’m happy with it. Not in a “look at me” kind of way. Not because I think it’s perfect. I’m simply grateful for it. Comfortable in it. Content with it. And I’m not planning to turn it into something it isn’t. It’s a body like yours, and yours, and yours. And yes, a 20-year-old body is beautiful. I had one of those too when I was 20. But a 50-year-old body is beautiful too. Beautiful in a different way, perhaps. But still beautiful. Never been lighter, Never had extensions and today we’re doing both 👀 For this consultation, it was less about coming in with a specific inspo photo and more about how she wanted to feel. More confident. Something different. A little more length and thickness, while still keeping depth around her face and making sure the colour feels soft and fresh. She gave me the trust to push things a little further than she normally would, so that’s exactly what we’re doing. Comment Part 2, let’s get into the colour 🔥
