Sì, ho letto anche io le polemiche sgradevoli sorte a proposito della Barbie con Sindrome di Down. Ne hanno parlato benissimo @valetomirotti e @trapaluca, vi consiglio i loro post in merito.
La mia opinione? Ho 29 anni, e mi diverto un mondo a staccare e attaccare gli impianti cocleari di questa scimmietta. Ho 29 anni, e non pensavo che sarei stata così felice di avere un gioco "come me". Questa è una scimmietta, non mi somiglia tanto (credo 😝), ma d'altro canto non mi somiglierebbe nemmeno una Barbie tradizionale, basata su un ideale di bellezza e perfezione.
Ho 29 anni, e in questi 29 anni non ho mai avuto un giocattolo con le orecchie come le mie. Non mi sono quasi mai vista rappresentata in giocattoli, libri, film, serie TV.
Vedersi rappresentate significa dire “esisto anch’io”. La rappresentazione conta, molto di più di quello che possiate immaginare.
Nel frattempo, aiutatemi: troviamo un nome a questa scimmietta!
È vestita di rosa, ma non facciamoci fuorviare da vecchi stereotipi. Usiamo l’immaginazione!

Yes, I’ve read about the people that wrote some really unpleasant things about the new Barbie doll with Down Syndrome. Many activists posted insightful, valuable content on this matter.
My two cents? I’m 29, and I have a lot of fun taking this monkey’s cochlear implants on and off. I’m 29 and I would never have tought that I’d be so happy about having a toy “like me”. This is a little monkey, we don’t look much alike (…I think XD), but, to be honest, neither would a traditional Barbie doll, based on an idea of beauty and perfection.
I’m 29 and in these 29 years I’ve never had a toy with ears that looked like mine. I almost never saw myself represented in toys, books, movies, TV series.
Being represented means saying: “I exist, too”. Representation matters, more than you think.
Meanwhile, help me find a name for this monkey! Its shirt is pink, but let’s not follow old stereotypes, use your imagination!
