It isn’t easy to go against the grain when a whole industry is screaming at you to play it safe. It’s not easy to feel so alone in your morality, to wonder if you are playing against the favour of your own children at home but I have to say currency comes in many forms and the nourishment and joy of being in the room with other people with good solid and defiant hearts is priceless. I want my children to learn that you don’t have to earn money by compromising your own compassion or ethics. For the record , I do it for the children. I look at my own kids every night before bed and I think what a privilege it is to see them safe, roof over their heads, food on the table and I wish that for every child. The children of Gaza deserve the same joys as my own children, they deserve to be fearless , free and grow their creativity without worrying about losing a limb, a parent, a sibling or their own lives. That is not what I want for anyone’s child. So for everyone who disagrees who calls that “controversial” I ask you this how many children will have to die before the grown ups realise they have to stop? I am so so so broken by the fact that the world is not on its knees begging for the end of this catastrophe , if not for themselves , but for the children. Thank you @macklemore for doing what is right. And free Palestine, Sudan , Congo , Lebanon , Syria , Iran , Yemen, Ukraine, and all the marginalised communities of this world. Dear friends and readers of Mada, We are writing to you after collecting ourselves for a few days to say thank you. You show us time and again how solidarity, sometimes a magical, floating word, materializes in action. While some dues can and have been paid, others require something more. We are determined to tread this more difficult pathway to make good on the show of support you, our community, has offered.
