As a first generation graduate, earning this degree means everything to me. I graduated for my mom who has sacrificed so much for me. She’s always valued my education and pushed me beyond my limits to be the best that I can be. She left El Salvador on her 18th birthday in search for a better life. I was able to cross the stage with my mother to honor all her sacrifices and to receive OUR degree at the #1 public university in the world.

I also crossed the stage for all my friends, people, and community. My friends have been my number 1 supporters and have seen many of my struggles through life. I do this for them and for my beloved people in North East Los Angeles.
