We’re adding petal power to the NGV Garden for Melbourne Design Week. A Solar-Powered Bench That Spins Ever So Slowly is our latest artwork. The benches revolve using sunlight, giving users a new perspective on their urban context through slow rotation. This whimsical motion offers visitors a playful opportunity to change their perspective on public space. Each bench is shaped like a 60s flower graphic, with the aerial view being reminiscent of a plot of flowers oscillating and spinning in the sunshine. This retro look and feel is combined with contemporary sustainability values: harvesting sunlight through embedded solar panels.
