Irish Book Week ☘️📚

I’ve seen so many Irish Book Week posts this week. It’s gladdened my heart. Anyone who glances at my feed from time to time will know Irish writers are my favourites. ☘️

So … I thought I’d share my Irish bookshelves. Yes, I’m that weird person who organises her bookshelves by country. I have no sensible explanation.

My favourite Irish writers rarely vary, though I keep adding new ones. Danielle McLaughlin’s book ‘Rituals’ really stole my heart this year, and Djamel White’s Booker shortlisted ‘All Them Dogs’ was a powerful debut novel. I loved Wendy Erskine’s ‘The Benefactors’ and Colin Barrett’s ‘Wild Houses’.
(For the sharp eyed Rituals is not there … it’s on my favourites shelf. Yes I see you rolling your eyes).

My old favourites remain unchanged - Colm Toibin, Sally Rooney, Claire Keegan, Niall Williams, Sebastian Barry …. I could go on.

Who tops your list in the Irish writers stakes?
