Baltimore police have arrested 38-year-old Eric Clayton Cooke in connection with an assault that led to the death of 34-year-old Breon Turner, who died at a hospital five days after the incident.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, the assault occurred around 9:40 p.m. on October 14, 2026, in the 1900 block of Ramsey Street in the city’s Southwest District.

Officers responding to the scene found Turner suffering from serious injuries sustained during a physical altercation. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died on October 19.

Following Turner’s death, investigators upgraded the case to a homicide investigation.

On October 20, warrant apprehension detectives arrested Cooke without incident in the 4900 block of Hamilton Avenue in Baltimore.

Cooke was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility and charged with attempted first-degree murder. Police said upgraded charges are pending the findings of the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Baltimore Police homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.

Some friendships can survive three unfinished conversations, a forgotten reply, and both of you needing a week to get yourselves together. Then one person sends a wildly specific meme, and you’re right back where you left off. No awkward introduction required—just an immediate demand for their opinion on something ridiculous.

I love knowing we can have busy days and quiet stretches without questioning whether we still care. We check in, make sure the other is okay, and eventually catch up through voice notes that could qualify as a podcast. The replies may take a minute, but the affection is always there.

A 19-year-old driver in Edmonton was ticketed after a white BMW 328i was clocked at 113 km/h in an 80 zone on Oct. 3, then passed two vehicles on the right shoulder. The three tickets totalled $859.

Police thanked a witness for dashcam footage.
