Timing is everything in wildlife photography, and this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition shows just how much patience and skill it takes to capture the perfect moment. With entries from 121 countries and territories, the competition—developed and produced by the Natural History Museum, London—features striking photographs of everything from animals responding to death to fungi illuminated at night. See more images from this year's selection and the stories behind them at the link in bio. There’s a reason autumn in Finnish Lapland feels like a world of its own. 🍂🇫🇮 The Finns call it Ruska, the fifth season. And once you’ve experienced it, you understand why. Endless forests glowing in shades of gold, mist drifting over the swamps, soft sunlight breaking through the clouds and reindeer wandering along quiet roads as if they own the place. 🦌 Some mornings were wrapped in fog, others bathed in the warmest golden light. Every turn brought something different, and there were so many moments when I just wanted to pull over, grab my camera and stay a little longer. No rush, no crowds, just the road ahead and autumn in all its wild, beautiful glory. Finnish Lapland, you’ve got a special place in my heart. I’d drive those roads a thousand times over. 🤎🌲 #FinnishLapland #Ruska #LaplandInAutumn #NaturePhotography #Finland
