As you’re probably aware, Travis Kelce is currently in hot water after people spotted that he liked Shane Gillis’s controversial opening monologue from this past weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live on Instagram. If you somehow managed to miss the whole thing, Shane has been widely criticized for his misogynistic comments in the monologue, where he called women “whores” and bitches. Considering the current climate amid the highly publicized Cornell University lawsuit, the whole thing left a bad taste in people’s mouths, with one viral tweet summing up the discourse with: “the normalization of casual misogyny like this directly contributes to rape culture. if you’re against what happened at cornell, you need to be against this too.” Other celebrities came out against Shane’s monologue, too, including Dan Levy, whose impassioned Instagram post calling out Shane, SNL, and men as a whole ended up going viral. And this sentiment only made Travis’s response all the more disappointing, with eagle-eyed followers noting that both Travis and Cara Delevingne had liked SNL’s social media post of the monologue. As a woman who’s received her fair share of criticism about what she wears, let me share something I’ve learned at 53… We are DONE shrinking ourselves to make other people comfortable. ❤️ Wear the shorts. Wear the sports bra. Wear the matching set. Wear whatever makes YOU feel confident, strong and good in your own skin. To the gym. To dinner. To the grocery store. Wherever. Your body is not up for public debate, and your wardrobe doesn’t require anyone else’s approval. We’ve spent far too many years being told how we should look, what we should wear, what’s appropriate, what’s too revealing, and how women of a certain age should dress. We’re not here to make everyone else comfortable. We’re here to live our lives, feel good about ourselves and show up confidently as the women we are. PERIOD. And one last thing, ladies… Don’t ever let people with zero magic make you question yours. ✨❤️ And if you’re ready to start feeling stronger, more confident and empowered in your own skin, I’d love to help you get there. Comment BETTER and I’ll send you my blueprint to building strength, confidence and feeling your absolute best at any age. 💪🏼❤️ #fitover50 #strengthtraining #fitnessmotivation #bodyconfidence #ootd
