Astana Motors.
The poorest 10% of people in some of the world’s wealthiest countries have daily income or consumption thresholds significantly higher than those of India’s richest 10%, according to figures attributed to the World Bank’s 2026 Poverty and Inequality Platform. The comparison puts India’s poorest 10% at around $3 per person per day and its richest 10% threshold at approximately $10. In contrast, the poorest 10% threshold stands at $25 in the United States, $31 in Canada, and $28 each in Germany and Australia. The gap becomes even more striking when the top 10% thresholds are compared. The figures place the richest 10% threshold at approximately $173 per person per day in the United States, $129 in Canada, $128 in Germany and $129 in Australia. These numbers highlight the substantial difference in measured income or consumption levels across the countries included in the comparison. However, these figures represent thresholds, not average salaries or individual earnings. Cross-country comparisons depend on the World Bank’s methodology and whether figures are adjusted for differences in purchasing power. The supplied data also cites India’s Economic Survey as indicating that monthly earnings of around ₹80,000 can place an individual among the country’s top 10% of earners. The comparison offers a snapshot of international economic disparities, but the methodology should be checked before drawing direct conclusions about living standards.
