![Audience discretion is advised: This post contains descriptions of violence against a young child.
The court heard that the couple would also abuse the baby in other ways, such as by slapping, hitting, and squeezing him until he turned purple.
Text messages read out in court showed that the couple communicated about an incident when the baby did not respond to the woman when she tried to feed him.
In one message, the man told her to shake the baby as he did, but not to be "very violent", in case it "damage the brain" and the boy "become autistic".
She replied that she shook the baby's head "[almost] 180 degrees".
