the part we get to play dress up 🥂🤍

If you have a son, tell him this before he turns thirteen. Because the world is about to start teaching him what a man is, and most of what it teaches him will be wrong.
Tell him strength is not the absence of feeling. It is the ability to feel everything and still do the right thing. Tell him he will see pornography, not if but when, and that it is a performance filmed to be sold that will teach him lessons about women that are false and cruel. Tell him consent is not the absence of no. It is the presence of yes. Tell him how he treats a woman when nobody is watching is the only measure of his character that counts. Tell him anger is not the enemy, but what he does with it is the entire difference between the men we admire and the men we fear. And tell him asking for help is not something a man grows out of. It is something a man grows into.
Nobody becomes a man by accident. It is built one decision at a time in the moments nobody sees. And he gets to start building it today.
If you are raising a boy, tell me in the comments what you wish someone had told you at thirteen. Because your answer might be exactly what another parent needs to say tonight. ❤️ Share this with a parent who is raising a son.
