How It Started vs. How It’s Going!
Tina, my 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe, is slowly becoming a rolling chassis in preparation for some serious upgrades!🤫

Background/Tina’s Timeline:
- In August of 2020, we went to go look at “a ‘67 Mustang” that was on a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friends’s property. It had been abandoned after the owner moved from California five years prior. Upon arrival, we realized it was a ‘65 (not a ‘67) with a modified 302 in dire need of a carburetor rebuild and some TLC. The motor turned over (somehow) and a week later, we came back for it with a signed check and a car hauler.
- 2020-2022: Over the next few years, myself, mom, and our resident mechanic (dad) have replaced the carburetor, resurfaced the Mickey Thompson valve covers, did 72872873 oil changes, detailed the interior, did a few plug changes, replaced the distributor (and plug wires), went through 2 ignition boxes, buffed out the rust stains in the paint (Dad the 🐐), put in LED bulbs (very rudimentary ones, might I add😂), and several other things I will think of later.
- Since 2020, Tina has been in the parking lot of Alvin High School a few times, to my senior prom, on East Beach in Galveston for my senior pictures, and around the block too many times to count when anyone who came over would ask for a ride.
- NOW, 2023: For the past few weeks, we’ve slowly taken apart Tina piece by piece. FUN FACT: you can just about take apart a ‘65 Mustang with a Phillips head screwdriver and a 1/2 inch wrench! Once we’re done disassembling, she will be going to Rick Stevens, my uncle of sorts who builds drag cars for a living😁, to be modified🤫. As of now, step 1 will likely be media blasting to take off all the paint (and see how bad she is underneath).
- As the project proceeds, I will try my best to post updates from now on.
Sorry for the long post! But I’ve dreamt of a project like this my whole life and I just had to share!
