Ronald Karauri was raising concerns about Nairobi’s leadership months before the Eastleigh building collapse brought building safety and City Hall’s oversight back into the spotlight.

At the time, Karauri was urging Nairobians to examine the state of their city and question why Nairobi was struggling under Governor Johnson Sakaja’s administration.

From flooding and poor infrastructure to building safety and allegations of corruption, the debate over Nairobi’s management has continued to draw attention.

Now, following the Eastleigh building collapse, those earlier concerns have gained renewed relevance, with questions being raised about inspections, enforcement of construction regulations and accountability at City Hall.
