CALLING ALL RAVE HISTORIANS! 🚨🔊

Am I losing my marbles or does anyone else remember The Bucketheads – The Bomb! being played at the Haçienda around 1994/95?

I have this incredibly vivid memory of the entire dancefloor waiting for what felt like an ETERNITY for that bloody drop. The tension was ridiculous, and when it finally kicked in, the place absolutely erupted! 🙌

Who the hell was DJing? Graeme Park? Tom Wainwright? Was it even 1994? It seems such a commercial tune now, but I swear I remember hearing it before it became massive.

And being from Wigan, we obviously had our own lyrics. A lad called Wes used to sing “PEAS, CHIPS, PUDDING AND A PIE” instead of “These Sounds Fall Into My Mind.” 🤣🥧

And while we’re reminiscing, can we give some love to the local nightclubs?

Because sometimes a Friday night out in your hometown was better than trekking into Manchester or Liverpool for the big clubs.

You knew half the dancefloor, the other half knew your business, the DJ knew exactly what would get everyone going, and you could have the absolute night of your life without going anywhere glamorous.

The big clubs might have made the history books, but those little local clubs made some of our best memories.

So come on, Haçienda veterans and hometown ravers. Who was behind the decks that night? And which local nightclub deserves a bloody medal? 😂❤️

One thing I’ll always believe is that accountability matters just as much as growth.

I’m not perfect, and I’ve never claimed to be. I’ve made mistakes, hurt people without intending to, reacted in ways I’m not proud of, and had moments where I could’ve handled things better. I’m still learning, still growing, and still working on myself, just like everyone else.

But one thing I never want to lose is the willingness to look at myself honestly. If I’ve made a mistake, I want to be able to own it. If I’ve hurt someone, I want to take responsibility for my part. And when I’m given the opportunity to make things right, I want to have the humility to do so.

Growth isn’t just about talking about kindness, healing, or being a better person. It’s about being willing to recognize the moments when we fall short of those things, too.

I hope I never become so focused on who I’m trying to be that I stop being honest about who I am today. There will always be room for me to learn, to apologize, to do better, and to grow.

We can hold ourselves accountable without hating ourselves for being human. We can acknowledge our mistakes without letting them define us. And we can choose to do better without pretending we’ve always gotten it right.

The goal isn’t to be perfect. It’s to be honest enough to grow. 🤍

What’s one thing personal growth has taught you about yourself?
