Apple’s iPhone dock has remained one of the most recognizable parts of iOS, giving users quick access to their four favorite apps regardless of which home screen they’re on. While the idea of introducing a sliding dock sounds convenient, it could actually make navigating an iPhone more frustrating than necessary. The entire purpose of the dock is to provide instant access to essential apps without having to search or swipe through additional menus.

Adding a scrolling feature would introduce unnecessary movement to something that’s supposed to be simple. Users could accidentally swipe past the app they need, lose track of where their favorite icons are positioned, or end up spending more time navigating the dock than simply opening the App Library. Apple’s design philosophy has traditionally emphasized simplicity and consistency, and sometimes adding more features doesn’t necessarily improve the experience. Just because something is possible doesn’t mean it needs to exist. 😭😂
