This is one of the best thrillers I have ever read.I am not exaggerating, this one just kept me on edge throughout and i devoured it in one go.I know I posted this a long time ago but i didn't get to read it until recently.I couldn't make head nor tail of anything till the very end and for me its a good sign that this time i chose it well.

Coming to the story 500 years ago eight martyrs were burnt to death and 30 years ago two teenagers vanished without trace in Chapel Croft. When Vicar Jack gets posted to Chapel Craft she thinks that it will be a fresh start for her and her daughter. But things go awry for the duo from the very start as weird and unexplainable incidents keep happening and Jack very soon realises that no matter how hard a person may try to escape the past but that past will get hold of that person oneday. This book is one of a kind. With strange people lurking outside,Flo seeing burning girl figurines a sign of impending misfortune,a psycho released from prison looking for them everywhere life becomes implausible for them to sustain over there until and unless the malevolent forces get denuded of their masks. With the walls closing in on her will Jack be able to do that?

One thing I find ridiculous about the characters of thriller novels or movies is that no matter what time of the night it is they have to singly chase that random creepy guy,go to secluded haunted places with a person they barely knew as it is some sort of unwritten norm which just irks me thinking about the kind of stereotypical characters the authors bring on to the table.keeping that aside i enjoyed this one to bits. These days hardly we get to read a book that stays true to its genre.I thought that no one could write dark creepy characters the way Gillian flynn does but Cj Tudor is on whole another level. If u want to read a real page turner do give this one a try.

Happy Reading☺️
