2 years ago I had several kidney complications (yes, not due to protein, creatine or whey protein) due to more than 10 years of being a type 1 diabetic. This condition is also called “diabetic nephropathy”. Due to recovery from surgery and medications along with strict bed rest, I had lost almost 2 years of gym progress in a matter of weeks. I felt depressed and fatigued and stopped feeling like myself altogether. There were times where I would look in the mirror and ask myself if I was “Rohin” because I placed a lot of importance on my looks and my appearance. Because of this challenge, I realised the harsh reality that a lot of people you trusted are not there for you when you need them the most. I thereby started focusing on what made me feel the best. Improving my family relationships, focusing on the people who matter, achieving my goals and staying busy with my purpose and ultimately staying happy became the goal for me. Since June 2024 I have lost almost 10 kgs and have added muscle mass while lean gaining since February this year. Many people say that being a diabetic means that you will never be able to build a good physique (even doctors), but, the result speaks for itself. What helped me through my journey: 1. Food habits: The main focus should be on the eating food that helps you stay focused mentally and helps you push you to your limits physically in whichever way you prefer. This manages your blood sugar levels so there are no blood sugar spikes and falls so your energy levels remain stable throughout the day. And of course, make sure you hit your protein goals. 2. Sleep: Sleep is non negotiable because sleep controls your cortisol and your mood. Even if you workout everyday, if you get poor sleep it’s bound to cause problems in your recovery. 3. Perseverance: Consistency and perseverance. My motto is perseverance because if you can go through any and all challenges with utmost patience and consistency, you can achieve anything. Keep reminding yourself why you started this journey and keep going. More coming soon. #gangstaywinnin #motivational #gym #gymmotıvatıon #fitness

Seal-fur undergarment (natit). East Greenland Inuit, 1850-1865. National Museum of Denmark (@nationalmuseet), Copenhagen.⁣ ⁣ Outside, it served as an undergarment; at home, it was the only garment worn. When an East Greenland woman entered her home, she would remove her furs and remain wearing only this. In their own language, they called it naatseen, meaning 'short ones'; in books, it is referred to as natit.⁣ ⁣ The house was warm enough to allow for this. In the winter, several families shared a single-room house, and every married woman's oil lamp - carved from soapstone - burned day and night. When guests arrived, or even at a neighbor's house, no one wore anything more than a natit.⁣ ⁣ This garment, which guests also saw, was ornate: embroidered, with skin fringes, and beaded (See image 2). It used to be the same in West Greenland; Henrik Christopher Glahn, a Danish missionary living there in the 1760s, wrote the reason as follows: since it was the only thing they kept on at home, they took great care to make it beautiful.⁣ ⁣ The east coast, however, remained closed to Europeans for much longer: the first expedition did not reach Ammassalik until 1884. The Danish explorer leading the expedition, Gustav Holm, described a woman's home attire as consisting of three pieces: a headband, a necklace, and a natit (See image 3). The beads on the necklace were made from the vertebrae of a small fish called the capelin. The name Ammassalik also derives from this fish: the place where capelin are caught.⁣ ⁣ Glass beads, on the other hand, came from afar. East Greenlanders would travel around the southern tip of the island to trade at Danish stations along the western coast. An East Greenlandic song recorded around 1860 lists what those left behind expected from these travelers: tobacco and iron, sewing needles and beads.⁣ ⁣ In the summer of 1888, strangers entered the tent of a party heading south: Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen and his team, who were setting out to cross the Greenland Ice Sheet on skis.⁣ ⁣ (1/2) Continued Below (1/2)
