- Monday - Hiking into the canyon was breath taking. We decided to wake up at 230am to drive into the Res to start heading down before the sun came out to play. I must have said wow about 100 times. If I had one word to describe everything it would be “breathtaking”. The way down was 12 miles and with the packs on our back it wasn't easy, but it was manageable. There are only 3 ways in/out of Havasupai - walking, mules/horses, or a helicopter. We are talking REMOTE. Think about how much effort it takes to get ~anything~ here. 🫣 We got to see the mules working and we were informed ahead of time they all kind of just go where they want…so move out of their way. We got 10 miles into the city right as the sun was really starting to heat up. The last 2 mile stretch back into the camp sights seemed like it went on forever. I could hear the roar of water. There it was - Havasu Falls. It was so cool to see and gave an extra little push of motivation to help get us into the campground. We found the perfect place to drop our bags and we put up our hammocks to pass out and rest in. We laid around for a while (we were pretty pooped) and then decided to head back to Havasu Falls and check it out. We had passed two fry bread stands on the way in and both were not open yet. Kevin decided while I was going to go down into the falls he was going to huff up one the hills to see if anyone had opened the stand (this guy loves him some fry bread tacos). I hung out and just marveled at the falls and he eventually showed up with food *score*. We hadn’t really eaten much the whole day and man they were gooooood. We had a good time in the water for a while and then headed back to camp and set up our tent. We played some cards and then decided it was time for bed.
