Day 5 of 10 day “class of 2024 senior parents” challenge. Everyday I will select an image from a day in the life of being a parent of a senior and nominate someone to take the challenge and post it without explanation and nominate someone each day to take the challenge. Ik a bunch of “iT was A jOke” mfers are gunna come for me and to that I say… disrespectfully, shut the fuq up. It wasn’t funny. It didn’t have a punchline. He got up there and said a bunch of misogynistic bs that is soooo fkn overplayed. It’s some straight up boomer humor.

Women have been the butt of jokes for everrr- the lack of creativity in his set is almost more offensive than him saying women are dressing like wh*res. I truly believe there is a way to make fun of everyone and everything comedically, but it takes intelligence and nuance… which this entire set lacked. Like he actually thinks his audience is dumb enough to think his set was funny and that in itself is upsetting.

Also lowkey crazy he got up there and told everyone he’s a fkn creep lmao. Talked about creeping out a “beautiful woman” on a hike and then being upset he can’t stare at women in the gym… I wonder when he (and all the people that think like him) will learn that it’s not women that are they problem… it’s them 🙈

A new study led by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has found that older adults who nap frequently may face a significantly higher risk of developing dementia. By tracking nearly 1,000 Medicare beneficiaries aged 65 and older over a 10-year period, the study revealed that individuals who napped on most days or every day had a 48% higher risk of a dementia diagnosis compared to those who rarely or never napped. This increased risk remained present even after accounting for factors like age, existing health conditions, and overall nighttime sleep duration. The researchers also noted that unintentional napping—such as nodding off unexpectedly—was tied to a 39% higher risk, while short naps lasting 30 minutes or less were associated with a 40% higher risk.

Crucially, the authors emphasize that these findings do not prove a direct cause-and-effect relationship, meaning that taking a nap does not inherently cause brain damage or cognitive decline. Instead, frequent or worsening daytime sleepiness is considered an early warning sign or biomarker. The underlying neurodegenerative changes associated with early-stage dementia can damage the brain regions responsible for regulating wakefulness, leading to increased fatigue and daytime dozing long before memory loss or other clinical symptoms officially manifest.
