🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ In light of @kathyhilton being named the Grand Marshal for the 2026 @wehopride Parade and her ties to Donald Trump, it is down right bizarre the organisers cannot see how this decision conflicts with Pride’s roots as an act of political resistance especially considering the wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation our community faces right now!

Contrast this with the legendary Mamie Van Doren (pictured here) who served, without fear or favour, as the Grand Marshal in 1987. Her role was highly significant because she was one of the first mainstream Hollywood stars to lend her name publicly to the fight against AIDS when our community was abandoned by entertainment industry and the government of the time. Mamie also participated in endless AIDS benefits, helping raise funds for organizations such as AIDS Project Los Angeles (@aplahealth).
