HU Staff: Kecia Gayle @kecia.kae We all think about it. Lying in bed at night, we run the scenarios in our heads about what we’d do if somebody ever tried to violate our space. Where we’d run, what we’d grab, who we’d call. Well, Bella Torres didn’t get to just think about it. She had to live it, and according to what she told 12News, the whole thing unfolded in less than ten minutes last Friday ___________________________________________________ Torres says she was home with her one-year-old daughter when a stranger opened her front door. No knock. No hello, no nothing! He asked to use her restroom, she says, and before the question had even settled in the air, he lunged at her. Torres says he grabbed her by the neck, took her to the ground, and kicked her daughter. She also says he demanded she undress. ___________________________________________________ Instead of freezing up, Torres went into defense mode. “My first instinct is just to protect her,” she said of her daughter. That instinct carried her toward the door, which was still hanging wide open, and she broke free. Her scream was loud enough to be picked up by her home surveillance camera, and that same camera recorded the fight that spilled out onto her driveway. Torres has since shared the footage with the station. In the clip, the man can allegedly be heard saying he was on drugs and that her boyfriend had sent him. ___________________________________________________ Click the link in bio for full story 📸 Getty Images /

Idahoans, early voting starts tomorrow, and there is a proposed constitutional amendment on our ballot that deserves a lot more attention than it’s getting. HJR 4 is NOT a vote to legalize marijuana. It’s a vote to remove an existing constitutional right from Idaho citizens. Our Legislature ALREADY has the authority to legalize cannabis and other substances covered by this amendment. HJR 4 would make that authority EXCLUSIVE to the Legislature, permanently stripping Idaho citizens of their ability to use ballot initiatives to legalize these substances, including medical cannabis. Why on EARTH would we vote to give our government MORE power while surrendering our own? Especially in a state where people have historically been so opposed to government overreach. You don’t have to support marijuana legalization to recognize what’s at stake here. This is about far more than cannabis. This is about whether WE THE PEOPLE should surrender our constitutional power to bring these issues directly to voters. I cannot understand why anyone would voluntarily vote to remove their own constitutional rights. I’m voting NO on government overreach. NO on Idaho HJR 4. Please read the amendment before you vote, and share this with other Idahoans. Not enough people understand what they’re being asked to give up.
A vehicle owner is asking for the community’s help after their black BMW was heavily damaged while parked along Haleʻiwa Road in front of Aliʻi Beach Park sometime between 11 p.m. Friday, October 16, and 7 a.m. Saturday, October 17. According to the owner, three windows were smashed, a headlight was broken, and two dents were left in the vehicle’s body, possibly caused by a tire iron or metal pole. No witnesses or surveillance footage have been identified, and a police report was filed immediately. Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has nearby surveillance footage from that night is encouraged to contact HPD. Mahalo to @alliemariewilkinson for sharing this information.
