Philadelphia sports fans have had a brutal week. The Phillies went from clinching a postseason spot to getting bounced by the Braves in the Wild Card round, losing the decisive Game 3 by a 6-2 score. That ended Philadelphia’s four-year streak of reaching the NLDS and extended their losing streak in winner-take-all games to four. Then the Eagles followed it up with an ugly stretch of their own, getting blown out 27-7 by the Bears before blowing a 20-10 fourth-quarter lead against the Rams and losing 24-20 on Sunday.

And somehow, the Flyers may have made things even worse. They opened the season by getting absolutely embarrassed 7-0 by the Penguins, then lost to the Devils in overtime before falling to the Hurricanes 3-2 in overtime Saturday. So within the span of basically one week, Philly has watched the Phillies get eliminated, the Eagles lose consecutive games after starting 2-0, and the Flyers begin the season winless through three games. The Sixers haven’t even started their regular season yet, but with the rest of the city already suffering, Philadelphia sports fans have to be wondering what they did to deserve this stretch.
