Tonight! Join us for the much anticipated opening reception of ‘O Cio da Terra, Ócio da Terra,’ cycles of fertility and pause, a collective show curated by Josué Mattos, in collaboration with The55Project!

“Mirroring the title of the song “O cio da terra” (1977) and associating the article with the noun “cio” (estrus) takes into consideration Earth’s agony, with fields turned into unproductive areas, stripped by impoverished agriculture perpetuated by a violent system that allows for unrelenting reproduction. Therefore, ignoring the cyclical power of nature and its universal regulations leads to the loss of the “favorable season” and the abundant potential of the Earth. If violence against the womb of the world intensifies diseases related to the consumption of poisoned water and food, reclaiming the right time to “fertilize the soil” would reduce the gap separating individuals from nature and its cycles.” - Josué Mattos, Curator.

The public opening reception will take place tonight from 7pm - 9pm at the Fundacion Pablo Atchugarry in Miami. The opening is free and open to the public. See you there!
