Just before it rained at Burning Man, Joe and I stumbled upon a workshop all about love. The speaker said that love — the lasting true love kind — relies on deep admiration. If you fully admire your partner, love comes easy. It was a real light bulb moment for me; it explained why loving Joe had always felt so effortless.

Joe’s the most interesting person I know. He’s creative and kind and always makes me laugh. He’s the type of person that goes out of his way to make new friends comfortable at an otherwise unfamiliar gathering. He’s patient and a great listener and an even better traveler. I admire his ability to take a nap anywhere and make a muddy day on the playa so dang fun.

That’s worth celebrating any day but especially on his birthday! Love you, Joe. Happy birthday. 💓
