From engaged to married in a blink ➡️💕 @joeschindel and I had this wild idea 10 months ago to shock all of our friends and family with a surprise wedding … and it actually worked. A surprise has a way to catch someone exactly where they are. There’s no time for formalities or expectations, just raw emotions — love, joy and a ton of happy tears. It’s not unlike how I felt when Joe entered my life four and a half years ago. He was an unexpected and sweet discovery on the internet (shoutout both Twitter and Hinge) — and from the beginning he’s always understood me right where I am. And he keeps bringing the surprises! That convertible was a surprise engagement gift. 🤯 I’m so grateful we got to do this wedding our way, and I’m beyond grateful for everyone who showed up to what they thought was a surprise engagement party for me only to be completely bamboozled. I’m sorry we didn’t provide enough tissues! Love you all. And I love you forever Joe. ❤️ BIG THANKS 🤗 Photos: @york_corps Venue: @musicyard @yopresto @lannacove Officiant: the one and only @michaelngraff Hair & makeup: @taypbeauty Portraits: @megansswain Music: @lex_longa @alko.nyc @lee_abed and @sophiejoe__ (who also made us the badass track you’re listening to, featuring real samples of her cats @micoandzizou) by @emmakway
Surprise wedding October 11, 2025. A) joseph invites people to an engagement gathering and says Emma doesn’t know. B) you don’t tell family until 18 hours before C) you surprise Emma, the day before the wedding, with the gift of a 1983 Mercedes 380 SL. D) you drive INTO the venue in the Mercedes and act surprised to see everyone. E) Emma announces to everyone that joseph and she worked on this together from the beginning (January 2025). F) you announce that we are not here for the engagement celebration…you are here for our wedding. The dress in full view in last picture. more photos and videos on Facebook. Sound up. by @emmakway
a magical new years in costa rica with the most special friends ✨ endless thanks to @labryinto for creating this space where we can play on a giant light-up seesaw and join a massage train to @mita_gami while he plays an 8 hour sunrise set, all in one night. 🤯 so grateful and ready for 2025. so much love 🫶 by @emmakway
Just before it rained at Burning Man, Joe and I stumbled upon a workshop all about love. The speaker said that love — the lasting true love kind — relies on deep admiration. If you fully admire your partner, love comes easy. It was a real light bulb moment for me; it explained why loving Joe had always felt so effortless. Joe’s the most interesting person I know. He’s creative and kind and always makes me laugh. He’s the type of person that goes out of his way to make new friends comfortable at an otherwise unfamiliar gathering. He’s patient and a great listener and an even better traveler. I admire his ability to take a nap anywhere and make a muddy day on the playa so dang fun. That’s worth celebrating any day but especially on his birthday! Love you, Joe. Happy birthday. 💓 by @emmakway

the playa provides: - 10 days of sunsets and sunrises - new friends and campmates that became family - symphony circus singalongs with a side of happy tears and kazoos - apple pie for dinner while stranded in the storm - lessons in letting go and existing without a to do list, calendar or phone service - shakshuka and easy conversation in the rain - endless supply of art (thank you x1000 to all those that shared your art 🙏) - unconditional love and deep admiration for my partner - the most stunning double rainbow I’ve ever seen - the worst bruise(s) I’ve ever seen - bacon see you Gs next year 🫶 by @emmakway
As someone who’s always preferred solo travel, it’s an incredibly special thing to find friends you actually enjoy traveling with. So grateful for this group of Charlotteans and excited for wherever we’re going next. Love y’all. 💥🍌🌅🪩🫧🕳️ by @emmakway
