Noticing darkening of the neck, elbows, knees, or underarms? 🤔 Skin darkening can have several causes, including friction, excess weight, insulin resistance, hormonal changes, and certain medical conditions. Dark, thick, velvety skin, particularly around the neck or underarms, may sometimes be a sign of Acanthosis Nigricans. Identifying the underlying cause is important for appropriate care. ✨ For skincare, Nigrifix Advance Cream by Fixderma may be considered as part of a suitable skincare routine. However, the right approach depends on your skin concern and its underlying cause. Listen to your skin, understand the changes, and choose your skincare wisely! 💗 #NigrifixAdvanceCream #Fixderma #DarkNeck #DarkUnderarms#drdeepikagodara
At 91, Loretta Green wears a piece of voting rights history each time she casts her ballot: her 1960 poll tax exemption certificate. Green, an Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War, was exempt from paying the tax because of her military service. Issued when she lived in Alabama, the document certified that she could vote without paying, a right other voters faced financial barriers to exercise. Under Jim Crow, Southern states used poll taxes alongside literacy tests and intimidation to suppress Black voters. The amounts and rules varied by state. Alabama’s annual tax was $1.50, and unpaid taxes could accumulate, turning two years of payments into $3 and three years into $4.50: an obstacle for people with little money to spare. Poll tax receipts documented payment; exemption certificates like Green’s documented that the holder did not have to pay. The 24th Amendment banned poll taxes in federal elections in 1964. In 1966, the Supreme Court ruled them unconstitutional in state elections as well. Today, Green uses her certificate to teach younger generations about the barriers Black Americans faced, and the importance of exercising their right to vote. Today, we finally laid my two beautiful daughters, Tehilla and Angel, to rest. I still don't have the right words to describe what I'm feeling. It's been a painful journey, and honestly, sijui hata niseme nini. But through it all, God has been faithful. To everyone who stood with us, prayed for us, contributed, called, sent messages, travelled, and showed up for my family, I want to sincerely say THANK YOU. You have shown us so much love, and I don't take any of it for granted. Some of you went out of your way to make sure we were okay. I have seen it, I have felt it, and I will never forget it. Tomorrow, I will take some time to share a proper message of appreciation. But tonight, I just want to say thank you to each and every one of you. To my beautiful girls, Tehilla and Angel, Daddy loves you. I wish things were different. I wish we had more time together. Rest well, my babies. You will forever be part of me.
