One runs out of adjectives when it comes to shows like #MittideBaway. Even things like fantastic or fabulous or cinematic or Netflix level (my least fav) don’t do it justice. Perhaps mind blowing? Coz that’s what it has been - and gut wrenching- dil-ko-thaam-ke-betho level good.
As expected, poor, innocent, Aslam loses his life to Nazeer who first kills his absconding sister and then her husband. Balaa, whose love story brought this hell upon his family, can only watch & scream & cry & eventually run. It was quite a sad, pathetic figure he cut. Unable to even bury his own brother. Infact the whole family has been practically destroyed following this blood bath where we saw Balaa put a dozen bullets into Nazeer too. Billo bhi is left distraught. Mourning her ex-husband (in her mind he was still her husband who she’d been faithful to). She leaves home, along with her children, perhaps unknown to her ex-susar, fleeing to the only person who respects her, her Pir.
The most heart wrenching scenes we saw were when Achi’s mortal remains are brought home and his family discovers him dead. Kausar’s blood curdling scream (reminiscent of Uzma Hassan’s similar scream in “Khaie”!), Joji’s heartbreaking cries for the brother he had been planning to apologize to and Bhabi Zareena’s sad crying.. she’d already been mourning the way Iqbal ji had given her dhoka after dhoka. How sad were the ways he forbade her to even hum a tune, killed the girl’s spirit only to discover later that she’d been living with a lie. Just tragic. Amar was astoundingly good as Zareena, portraying the pain of a woman wronged and now completely shattered as she loses the husband along with her home.

Phajja, after assisting and abetting in this bloodbath is now helping clean up the mess. Balaa, he’s keeping close to himself and the family has been all shifted (once more) to Lahore this time. Even Achi’s burial he’s planned must be done where the family eventually settles. The scenes showing this move were the saddest, the song playing in the background making it even more emotional. One literally cries for this wrecked up family, most for Balaa, who is now family-les

😭😭😭😭😭
