The last 8 years of being a “runner” have led up to this moment. I never really even felt like I could use that word and always felt some sort of strange imposter syndrome around it. Naturally when you tell someone that you’re a runner the first word that always follows is “marathon”. It felt like until I accomplished this, I couldn’t consider myself a real runner. Something shifted around the year 2018. I hit a sort of bottom point where I couldn’t stand the lack of physical activity in my life. My good friends @bogaudley and @brendangroan would run the Turkey Trot every year and I envied them. It separated them from the rest of us hardcore kids. Waking up and accomplishing a physical feat while we’re all sitting on our asses on Thanksgiving morning. I wanted it. I did it. I never looked back and I found my calling. I’m a firm believer in slow progress. In a world where everyone is looking for a shortcut to losing weight, chasing instant satisfaction, getting into a hobby for 2 months, dropping it, and never looking back… that’s not how I choose to do things. I believe in completely locking into it and giving it my all. Yesterday was one of the best days of my life. It was so fucking hard. I almost quit 1000 times. I saw so many friends and family members on the sideline yelling my name. I gave my physical therapist a big fat hug. It was beautiful out, yet hotter than I wanted it to be. It was a pain in the ass to get to Staten Island. And yet I’m so grateful for it all. I want to thank my coach @nic_samayoa for always pushing me. I want to thank @brittanyzenner for dealing with my marathon psychosis for months. The whole Physical Therapy practice @nycustompt for helping me even make it to the starting line. And to all of my friends who supported me and said nice things, I appreciate it all so much. Fat chance I’ll ever do this again, but let’s see!
I wanted to make something to honor and remember our first child. It was hard but really healing bringing this all together.❤️‍🩹 #miscarriage #grief
Life Update: I've been quiet on social media lately.. I just haven't really been in the mood to post anything.. but, im still here. 🙂 The Good: I have a new apartment, and one of my BFF's is my roomate.. which REALLY helps with my loneliness struggles. I have my puppy "Puck," who I lubs soooo much. He's in the middle of potty training, and keeps me active. I've been getting into video games again. I've been playing Modern Warfare 4, and Star Wars Rogue Racers... but really, I'm just filling the time until GTA6 comes out. I've been going to therapy, and I finally see the positives that come from it. The Bad: I'm still struggling with mental health stuff, with a side of stress and anxiety. I get overwhelmed easily and breakdown emotionally. It's been challenging. Also, I'm currently injured and can't play Hockey, which I'm devastated about. And finally, I feel a bit loveless lately. I think I'm ready for someone committed to love me, and me.. them. I don't want to sleep in an empty bed anymore. I want someone to for cuddles, and kisses. The Ugly: I'm injured. I sprained my wrist over a month ago, and it still hurts, and last week I dislocated my shoulder, which means ill be out from hockey for weeks. Also, I've gained some weight back from all that I lost last year.. I feel I look much healthier, but the extra pounds make me feel a bit... "solid." It's kind of an uncomfortable feeling. I didn't gain much back, but the balance between wanting to feel healthy, and wanting to eat everything in my fridge has been VERY one sided. So yeah, that's a brief summary of my life over the last month or 2. Sorry to have ghosted you.. but I'm still around. - Mika 🫶 #stillhere #lifeupdate #englishbulldog #transgender ##theadorkablegirlnextdoor
