Stay down stick to the plan that’s me
The new @streetfightermovie is out in theaters on October 16th and y’all already know I had to pull out my Chun-Li cosplay! We went down to @glitchbar.ftl to take some cool pics (of course, featuring the classic Street Fighter arcade games) and I had SO much fun with this! I’m ready and set to FIGHT this Friday. Are you? 💪😉 #StreetFighterMovie
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson confronted Afghan-born Senator Fatima Payman over her eligibility to sit in Australia’s Parliament, only to be accused of racism for raising questions about her unresolved Afghan citizenship. Section 44 of the Australian Constitution prohibits foreign citizens from serving in Federal Parliament, a provision that has previously forced numerous politicians from office. Yet Payman’s own parliamentary declarations acknowledged that her attempt to renounce Afghan citizenship had never been formally completed. Payman applied to surrender her Afghan citizenship in 2021, but the Taliban’s takeover prevented the process from being finalised. She maintains that she took every reasonable step required and obtained legal advice confirming her eligibility. Hanson demanded further scrutiny of whether those circumstances satisfy Australia’s constitutional requirements. Instead of resolving the constitutional dispute, the confrontation descended into personal accusations, with Payman describing Hanson as racist, vindictive and a disgrace to humanity. The extraordinary exchange raised a fundamental question about whether legitimate scrutiny of a parliamentarian’s eligibility should automatically become a debate about race. Australia’s Constitution must apply consistently to every politician, regardless of political affiliation, religion or country of birth. If questions remain about a senator’s foreign citizenship, Australians deserve a transparent legal determination, not another parliamentary shouting match.
