More importantly what should happen is animal control should get called for an aggressive dog and get the animal removed. The dog is just out and not in a fenced yard or on a leash which is not ok. This isn’t out in the country somewhere, this a residential neighborhood and usually that is illegal.

This mail carrier reacted better than most. He read the dogs energy and backed away appropriately and then stood his ground as was clear that he needed to. Mail carriers need to be trained better on how to react to dogs, and unfortunately anyone terrified of dogs probably should not work in this job.

And somehow every mail carrier deals with this issue like pros, but most cops immediately start shooting.

My step mom is a mail carrier and got bit last year. Keep your dogs contained in your yard!
