Someone’s in trouble (and it’s me). Who’s going to tell Carina that I tried adding a few layers at home (again) and got carried away (again). This isn’t the first time! 🤭

But as long as God keeps emphasizing what he does, we’re good, right? 😇

Good luck at the polls tomorrow — if you live in one of those MAGA places, please get those psychopathic Christian nationalists out. If you live in Pantsuit Nation, my sympathies; we need to get the corruption out of politics and seize the means of protection. Learn about neoliberal austerity (👎) and inverted totalitarianism (👎) today and get to work!

Start with any interview or book by Wendy Brown and/or Sheldon Wolin. Let’s outwork, outsmart, and outlove mankind’s greatest opposition: unbridled greed.

🚨 MOMENTS AGO: “I actually don’t think about Haley Stevens.”

Abdul El-Sayed takes questions from reporters after Haley Stevens withdraws her support and endorses Republican Mike Rogers.

🧅 Interesting fact: ⠀

Shrek (2001) — Produced by DreamWorks Animation, this groundbreaking animated fantasy-comedy film follows a grumpy, reclusive ogre whose peaceful swamp is suddenly overrun by displaced fairy tale creatures, forcing him on a quest with a talkative Donkey to rescue Princess Fiona for a corrupt lord. They navigate enchanted forests, dragon-guarded castles, and royal kingdoms, facing the chaotic and hilarious challenges that arise as their journey turns their worldview upside down. ⠀

One interesting production fact is that Mike Myers originally recorded all of his dialogue for Shrek with a traditional Canadian accent before re-recording the entire role using a Scottish brogue to give the character a more working-class, grounded feel. Additionally, the film’s animators had to develop entirely new software to realistically render the movement of Shrek’s signature mud baths and organic clothing textures. ⠀

What makes Shrek stand out is its fearless subversion of classic fairy tale tropes, sharp satirical humor, and its perfect balance of juvenile gags with sophisticated adult wit. The film blends elements of fantasy adventure, romantic comedy, and musical parody, exploring themes such as inner beauty, societal acceptance, and true identity. Its enduring legacy lies in how it revolutionized computer-animated storytelling and created a cultural phenomenon that remains beloved worldwide.
