so many of these phrases we’ve created IMO by living out of tune with the world around us !! there was a moment when i was early in my chiropractic practice when mothers would come in and use phrases that i had zero context for. for a short time i felt guilty or “out of the loop” a bit and thankfully QUICKLY realized that most of it was not at all vernacular i wanted to program my mind with. example: a woman coming in before i became a mother and telling me she has a velcro baby. i said, “i think you made that up.” and she said “no, i’ve been seeing it online, people talk about how their baby can’t be put down.” and it was that moment that i was like wait, we’re naming things that are often developmental and somewhat natural, normal expressions of the human experience and making them wrong.. like yes your 8 week old baby is like velcro, of course!! by freaking design, right? 🤯 i would go back and tell myself to ctrl+alt+delete all those phrases. didn’t even name some that have made it into my toddlerhood mom brain - INDEPENDENT PLAY (lollll) and terrible twos to name a few. okay that’s all what are other phrases/concepts worth unlearning?
