I promised you the story behind this one, settle in, it’s a long one…

It all started back in February when I had the chance to spend some hands-on time with a certain someone’s Daytona 116500LN.

Concerns about size, legibility, comfort etc all went out the window.

I was smitten.

Fast forward to June and again, a certain someone’s Daytona 116500LN found its way onto my wrist.

I was in trouble.

I decided that I needed to experience Daytona ownership.

And then the Man Maths kicked in:

1. if I’m ever lucky enough to get The Call for a Daytona at retail, I’m going to have to sell some watches.
2. the gap between RRP and pre-owned priced isn’t THAT significant at the moment. It’s a lot, but it could be doable if I sell a few more watches than originally planned.
3. why keep waiting for a call that may or may not come, when I could sell to cover and get a Daytona NOW and for ‘FREE’?!

And so, with Daytona-lust driving me forward, I took a deep breath and headed off to C24 and eBay. In a buyer’s market I expected the process to take most of the rest of the year.

And then, just a few weeks later in July, a certain someone mentioned he was considering selling his Daytona 116500LN.

I’ve never called anyone so quickly.

A deal was done and a meet was arranged.

And so on a sunny Friday in July @watchwasp and I sat down in a lovely country pub, enjoyed a delicious lunch and some top bants and then went our separate ways. Him with a healthier bank balance than before and me with my very own Daytona 116500LN on the wrist.

Crazy.

Thanks Jimi for enabling and here’s to celebrating the end of my watch journey.

Or is it…?
