My life, Maldives edition 🤍

Not posting this to make anyone panic, but instead, remind you that the little things make up a wonderful month too. 🧡🍂

Even if your schedule is full and hectic, noticing the leaves changing, the sounds of crunchy leaves underfoot, the way steam dances on your mug of hot tea, the different bird songs from migratory flocks headed south, the smell of rain on fallen leaves, the breeze rustling the curtains around your windows…all of these simple joys can really add up! I, for one, have been focusing heavily on them because my schedule has been so hectic. 😅 But I’ve been reminding myself “taking 5 minutes to sit on the porch and just notice isn’t going to make a huge difference in whether or not I can get my to-do list finished today”.

I hope October is treating you well, but I hope you treat it well too. 🍁🫶🏻🧡

On Thursday night we met in the @barbicancentre Conservatory to discuss Haruki Murakami’s “Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World”. A mind bending book that fuelled a fantastic discussion, especially after having seen the stage adaption too! Thank you to the Barbican for providing the most incredible setting and making this one of our most memorable book clubs to date.

I used to think peace was something I’d arrive at later.

When the next deal closed. After the next goal. After I’d proven enough, built enough, become enough. I was always running towards a version of life where I’d finally get to slow down.

This Fall, standing barefoot on a cold dock with leaves turning around me, I realized something. The trees don’t wait until they’re finished to let go. They release right in the middle of the season, a little at a time, and they’re still beautiful while doing it.

I’m done waiting. I stood on one leg and found my balance. I reached higher than felt comfortable. I knelt by the water and breathed. And somewhere between shakiness and laughter, I felt it. I wasn’t on my way to peace anymore. I’ve become it.

Strong enough to hold my ground. Soft enough to let life move through me. Both at the same time. That’s the practice.

I’m grateful for every season that got me here. Especially the hard ones. They taught me how to be still.

If you’ve been waiting for permission to slow down, this is it.

What are you ready to let go of this season? 👇🏼
