A brilliant blue pearl hidden at the center of a celestial oyster, the Iris Nebula (NGC 7023), is a reflection nebula in the constellation of Cepheus. This is one of my favorite targets as there is so much latitude to process it to better highlight and focus on different structures. I've shot this with various different telescopes, but this time I wanted to get a lot of data, and try to bring out what I perceive as the dimensionality to the nebular structures. I can see it in the processing, but I also created a composition in after effects showing how I think the nebula might actually look like in 3 dimensions.
