Sourdough Starter Feeding Ratios + How They Work for Baking

You NEVER need to keep a massive jar of starter on your counter to feed and maintain everyday.

You can scale any feeding ratio UP when you need more starter for baking and DOWN when you’re not.

I used a 1:10:10 feeding ratio here but this was just an example.

📌 1:10:10 FEEDING RATIO
* 45g starter
* 450g water
* 450g flour
* Total When Peaked = 945g starter!

📌 IMPORTANT:

⏳ Over time, your feeding ratios can impact the balance of yeast and bacteria in your starter.

🌾 Higher feeding ratios = more “food” for your starter = slower peak

🌾 Lower feeding ratios = less “food” for your starter = faster peak

🌡️ Temperature and starter strength matter. My 1:10:10 feeding took about 12 hours to peak…but yours may take more or less time depending on your environment.

#syntheticperformer I’m 78, and these are my three little secrets to aging gracefully. From the most obvious to my
real secret 💛

1. Keep moving.
Put on your favorite song and dance, take a walk, or find an activity you enjoy. Moving regularly helps keep your muscles strong and supports your balance, so you can keep doing the things you love. It doesn’t have to be perfect; start with what feels manageable for you.

2. Protect yourself from the sun.
Enjoy your time outside, but give your skin some protection. A hat, a little shade, and broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher are simple habits that help prevent sun damage, including premature wrinkles and dark spots. Your future skin will appreciate the care you give it today.

3. Use a cream with NAD+.
NAD+ might sound complicated, but it’s something your body already makes. Your skin cells use it to help produce energy and support their natural repair processes. Levels in the skin can decline as we get older, which is why researchers are interested in its role in aging.

You can find the NAD moisturizing cream I use through the link in my bio, or comment “NAD” and I’ll send you the link directly.

I’m just starting this account, and I’d love to have you here. Subscribe and come along as I share my life at 78: the dancing, the everyday moments, and what I’m still learning. Let’s grow older together, with plenty of life left to enjoy.
